Missing You

I like to sleep
Sprawled across the bed,
Naked limbs entangled in the sheets,
Imagining that wherever you are
There is some part of me touching you.

I like to sleep
With pillows piled around me like a fortress
Pretending that no matter which way I turn
Your body is pressed close to mine.

I like to sleep
In deep silence,
All other sound removed,
Listening for the sound of your heart beating

From a lifetime away.
